I had the pleasure of test driving the 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV last year and found it to be fantastic. Now, the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has just been released and just like its predecessor it has plenty of attractive features. Efficiency
When discussing Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles, efficiency is always in the back of the mind. Whether it comes to range, fuel economy or charging times, people want to know how their PHEV stacks up. Well, the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEVs combined 13.8 kWh Lithium Ion Battery and 2.4L 4 Cylinder Engine can reach up to 320 Miles.
Here you may be saying, “That’s great! But what is the fuel economy? Am I going to be spending a fortune on gas?” Not at all. Unless you are into that sort of thing. First, the Outlander utilized Regenerative Braking to recharge the battery when coming to a stop. This both increases the range of the battery, but also your brake pads. Second, the vehicle comes in AWD with 7.4” of Ground Clearance. This means, unlike most PHEVs, you aren’t restricted to the urban centers, but can escape to the mountains. Thirdly, the Outlander PHEV comes with ample amounts of storage space. With all the seats up, the cargo area volume is around 30.4 CUFT, with the second row folded, you can reach up to 66.6 CUFT. To put the size in perspective, the cargo area is big enough to fit an average size refrigerator!
